Here are some of my "aha" moments captured in the eleventh week.
Quote:“You
may recall that Jesus filled his mind with truth; Jesus filled his life with
service; Jesus filled his heart with love. When we follow that example, we
shall never hear those words of rebuke that came from the parables. We shall
never find that we have empty lamps. We shall never be considered unprofitable
servants. We shall never determine that we have been found unfruitful in the
kingdom of God. Rather, when you and I follow carefully the parts of this
formula and literally fill our minds with truth, fill our lives with service,
and fill our hearts with love, we may qualify to hear one day that statement of
our Savior, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful
over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the
joy of thy lord’.” (Formula For
Success- Thomas S. Monson)
Quote:“My prayer is that we may so conduct ourselves that we may merit that plaudit from our Lord and Savior. I pray that each one of us may so live as to qualify for the blessing of the Lord when he declared: “I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end.” (Formula For Success- Thomas S. Monson)
Quote:“So find your calling. Write your own Hero story. Explore your signature strengths to discover flow experiences that will lead to mastery. Let your mastery attract opportunities in a way that serves others and changes you. “How can I be happy?” is the wrong question. “How can I create something meaningful for others?” is the right question because it helps others and will change you in a profound way. Savor sensual pleasures. Spread them out. Enjoy them but make them a conscious choice. Do not let them become your master. Seize the moment. Let go. Keep life simple and your pleasures even simpler. Truth and beauty don’t diminish with repetition.
Quote:“..set priorities in your life and decide what it is your willing to shift around.”(Balancing Your Life and Your Career Successfully- Randy Komisar)
Quote:“Never put yourself in a situation that you can’t say no…”.”(Balancing Your Life and Your Career Successfully- Randy Komisar)
Quote:“The way to keep a balanced life is to pay attention to what is important, to ask yourself hard questions so that you can be careful with your priorities and to make sure both ends of the equation foot out.” .”(Balancing Your Life and Your Career Successfully- Randy Komisar)
Quote:“We are all called to be people of impact.”(Hero’s Journey- Corey Bell)
Quote:“Kids need unstructured hang out time. Have regular family meetings. Bring your kids to work. Take advantage of small moments together (as a couple). Leave the smart phone behind. Establish boundaries for Smartphone.”(Surviving the Entrepreneurial Life: Work and Family- Kauffman Founders School)
Quote:“Money often reveals the kind of person we are.” (Attitude On Money- Stephen W. Gibson)
Quote:"'After ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good - to clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted." Jacob 2:19.” (Attitude On Money- Stephen W. Gibson)
Develop loving lifelong relationships with your spouse and your friends. Reach out to those younger for energy and inspiration, those your age for support and those older for perspective. Be grateful. You live in the richest country on earth, one of the freest nations on the globe, at a time when freedom and prosperity are sweeping the planet. You have extraordinary gifts. Don’t take things for granted. Be generous with your time and money. It may be the secret to why American capitalism and democracy work so well together.” (Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness- Acton Foundation)
Quote:"So if you want to prosper:
Rule 1. Seek the Lord and have hope in him Rule 2. Keep the commandments, that includes the temporal ones, tithing and fast offerings. Rule 3. Think about money and plan how you can become self-reliant. Rule 4. Take advantage of chances for learning so you will not be ignorant of these matters. Education, as President Hinckley has taught us, is the Key to Opportunity. Rule 5. Learn the laws upon which the blessings of wealth are predicated. Rule 6. Do not send away the naked, the hungry, the thirsty or the sick or those who are held captive." (Attitude On Money- Stephen W. Gibson)
Thoughts: I loved Stephen Gibson's idea that money reveals the kind of person we are. I agree with Stephen Gibson that money is not evil. Money is often necessary to do good. Our choices are what bring about good or bad. It is also irresponsible to think that money should not be a priority. Every individual/couple needs to have monetary goals. Goals are a good thing. They motivate us to achieve great things. You just need to be wary of self-serving goals, especially when it comes to money. Those blessed with wealth have a responsibility to do good. Whether or not we choose to accept that responsibility is another story.
Who Are You With Money?
